In today's digital world, visual information is typically encoded with various metaphors commonly used in daily life to facilitate rapid comprehension and easy analysis during the communication process. Visual information communication generally encompasses information visualization, graphical user-interfaces, visual analytics, and visual languages. It has been successfully employed in knowledge discovery, end-user programming, modeling, rapid systems prototyping, education, and design activities by people of many disciplines including architects, artists, children, engineers, and scientists. In addition, visual information is increasingly being used to facilitate human-human communication through the Internet and Web technology, and electronic mobile devices.The 2009 Visual Information Communications International (VINCI'09) provides an international forum for researchers and industrial practitioners to discuss the state-of-the-art in visual communication techniques and their applications. VINCI'09 continues the success of VINCI'08 that was held at Dallas, Texas, USA. We solicit high quality research papers which involve original research as well as system development experiences. Accepted papers will be included in the VINCI'09 proceedings published by the Springer as Book Chapters. Selected best papers will be published in a Special Issue of Journal of Visual Languages and Computing. Topics of particular interests include the following tracks, but are not limited to:
Paper Submission and PublicationSubmissions that address research and development on the above and other related topics are strongly encouraged. All the submitted papers will be reviewed by the international Program Committee members. Accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings of VINCI'09 by Springer as Book Chapters. A selection of the best papers will be invited for subsequent publication in a special issue of the Journal of Visual Languages and Computing.
